A rotating grinding surface gradually removes nail material. Unlike a clipper’s single cut, filing lets you make a small pass and look at the nail before continuing.
That does not make technique optional. Keep the paw supported, avoid prolonged contact, and stop well before the quick. If you are new to nail care, ask a groomer or vet for a demonstration before your first session.

Meet the sound.
Run the tool away from the paw, at a distance your dog finds comfortable. Keep it brief and reward relaxed behaviour. Stop if your dog is worried.
Try one small pass.
Once your dog is comfortable, support the paw and follow the use instructions. Work with brief, light contact, checking after each pass. Reward and take a break.
CARE, WITH ATTENTION
Your best tool is knowing when to stop.
The quick contains sensitive tissue inside the nail. Removing too much can hurt your dog, whether you are clipping or grinding.
Keep fur and loose material away from the rotating head. Use brief contact so heat does not build up. If you cannot identify a sensible stopping point, let a professional guide you.

Is Gentle Grind completely silent?
No electric nail grinder is silent. We are not publishing a sound-level rating until the final product specification is verified. Let your dog become familiar with the sound at a comfortable distance before bringing the tool near a paw.
Is grinding safer than clipping?
Both methods require care and correct technique. A grinder removes material gradually, but it can still reach the quick or create heat if used incorrectly. Use brief, light contact and ask a groomer to demonstrate if you are unsure.
Can I use it on dark nails?
Dark nails can make the quick difficult to identify. Take very small amounts, check frequently, and have a groomer or vet show you where to stop. Do not guess based on the nail colour alone.
What if my dog is afraid of the sound?
Stop and return to a distance where your dog is comfortable. Reward relaxed behaviour and try another short session later. You do not need to touch a nail during the first introduction.
Do I have to finish all four paws?
No. A short session with one nail can be a useful start. Stop while the experience is manageable and return another time.
